PRODUCTION OF INNOVATIVE COMPOSITE MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS FROM THEM AND THEIR USE IN ECONOMIC SECTORS

Summary

This work mainly examines the issues of the production of composite innovative materials (composites) and their use in sectors of the economy. Recently (approximately from the end of the 50s of the twentieth century) all over the world there has been an intensive growth in the production of composite materials and their use in various sectors of the economy, new varieties of them appear and the areas of use are expanding. Meanwhile, the countries of the post-Soviet space lag behind the leading countries of the world in their production. So today their share in value terms in the global production of composite materials is just over 1%. Meanwhile, the tasks of diversifying production, including Georgia, require the development of the sector for the production of composite materials and products from them (here it should be noted that in many cases the technological process of production is such that in the process of a complex cycle of technological operations the product itself is made, and not separately, a composite material for its subsequent manufacture, and in other cases, semi-finished products (prepregs) are made, which are transferred to other enterprises for further processing). In this regard, the work has consistently investigated the classification of composite materials, directions of their application in some sectors of the economy based on the replacement of traditional materials, and highlighted and systematized technologies for the production of composite materials and products from them. In conclusion, organizational and innovative problems of increasing the production of composite materials and products from them in Georgia are discussed.

Organization of production of composite materials and products from them can become one of the most important areas of diversification of production in Georgia and, accordingly, improvement of the export-import balance, due to the creation of export-oriented and import-substituting industries in this sector. But for their creation, in particular, it is necessary first to organize a system of assistance and support for their construction, including financial and organizational support, the necessary elements of the organizational and innovative infrastructure.

It seems that with the participation of public and private capital, it is necessary to establish a special innovation center for composite materials and products from them, which will ensure the search and research of appropriate foreign production technologies, promote the transfer of necessary technologies to interested organizations and enterprises, that is, the selection and supply of equipment and tooling , support the development of technological processes, promote the training of engineering and technical personnel, and participate in the preliminary assessment of sales opportunities both in the domestic market and abroad.

Particular attention should be paid to the development of the production of composite materials for construction, since the demand for them is high in the domestic market and it is possible to build import-substituting production in this direction. And in a number of areas (for example, the automotive industry, aircraft construction), it is impossible to organize the production of the corresponding composite materials in the country without the participation of large transnational firms, since without them it will be impossible to provide export sales of products, and in the absence of enterprises in the country currently producing cars or aircraft, such products will not be in demand on the domestic market.
